By the time he was 23, he was already a major character in two films that were nominated for Best Picture (Little Miss Sunshine and There Will Be Blood), and since then has continued to be one of the best actors around. He often plays incredibly nuanced characters, often dealing with severe mental illness, and portrays them in a realistic yet sensitive way. His portrayal of Brian Wilson in the biopic Love and Mercy is an absolute masterpiece. It’s a shame that the Academy has never recognized him or nominated him as Best Actor, but he frequently pops up on the ‘biggest snubs’ list.”
