Jameela Jamil’s never been afraid to speak her mind but that’s not to say that she never regrets some of the harsh things she says on social media, especially in the past! The Good Place actress is known for how outspoken she is on her platform, always calling out other celebrities for promoting harmful products and toxic mindsets.
At the same time, however, while on Red Table Talk, the actress admitted that she used to be a little toxic herself, especially when she decided it was acceptable to slut-shame fellow stars such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus.
Jameela has attacked all these women before, slamming them for ‘sexualizing themselves.’
Looking back however, the actress admitted that she is now ‘so ashamed’ over being such a ‘slut-shaming, woman-hating’ misogynist.
‘I was a real d*ck. There is documented proof of me slut shaming loads of female celebrities, like Miley, Beyoncé, Rihanna, like Kim, all of these different people – Iggy Azalea – and I was doing it because I was in pain. I was a troll. I thought I was ‘doing feminism,’ she shared on Red Table Talk.
She went on to explain where that mindset came from at the time, saying that: ‘So I am sexually assaulted, I am too afraid to confront my rapist, and instead, I get angry at all of the women who sexualize themselves ’cause I blame them for why men have sexualized me since I was a child. So, I am like ‘it is your fault because you just make them think they have permission to my body,’ which is really never the case. I was afraid deep down, and it was how I projected my pain.’
Jameela also admitted that she didn’t have the best of relationships with the women in her family and was also bullied by girls at school.
This led to her not really liking or understanding fellow women later on in life.
She recalled that ‘I would speak disparagingly about women and thought women were always in drama. I had all of this rage and I’d project it at women, at the nearest, easiest target… I was this slut shaming, woman-hating a**hole.’
