Starring Dakota Johnson, Cosmo Jarvis, and Henry Golding, the tone of the adaptation is much lighter than the novel, with Anne Elliot being much snarkier than her book counterpart. The movie has drawn comparisons to Fleabag for its fourth-wall-breaking wine aunt Anne, and not since the 2005 Pride and Prejudice has a Jane Austen adaptation been quite so divisive — and this time, it’s perhaps even more so. Some people love it, and a very vocal section of people hate it — so I want to know, once and for all, what the actual most popular opinions are about this movie.
